Alex: Oh! I love gifts! Are we talking about birthday presents?

 

Benny: Or Christmas presents? Or pizza presents? Because pizza is the best present!

 

Maya: Benny… pizza isn’t a present.

 

Benny: It is if someone gives it to me.

Teacher: Jesus said, “If you who are not perfect know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.”

Teacher: Let me ask you something. If a child is hungry, what would a loving parent give them?

Alex: So what gift does God give?

Teacher: Jesus said God gives the Holy Spirit.

Benny: Is that like a superhero spirit?

Maya: Benny!

Teacher: (smiling) Not exactly, but the Holy Spirit helps us. He helps us understand God, make good choices, and feel God’s love.

Alex: So the Holy Spirit is like a helper?

​

Teacher: Exactly! The best helper we could ever have.

Asking God

Maya: Do we have to do something special to get that gift?

Teacher: Jesus said we simply ask.

​

Alex: Just ask God?

​

Teacher: Yes. When we pray and ask God for His help, He gladly gives the Holy Spirit.

Benny: Even if we ask a lot?

​

Teacher: Yes, even then.

​

Benny: Good. Because I ask for snacks a lot too.

Maya: Benny!

Teacher: Remember this: if people try to give good gifts, God gives even better ones.

Alex: And the best gift is the Holy Spirit!

Maya: Because He helps us follow God.

Benny: And maybe helps us share cookies!
