Master Guide Outdoors (MGO), uses outdoor adventures to promote spiritual growth, community, and nature appreciation. Tailored for Seventh-day Adventist Master Guides, candidates, and those 16+, it fosters a deeper connection with God, others, and the natural world through activities like camping, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and wilderness skills.

  • Spiritual Growth: Deepens faith through nature-based devotionals, Bible study, and reflection in outdoor settings.

  • Community Building: Strengthens fellowship and mentorship via shared experiences and team-building activities.

  • Nature Appreciation: Encourages exploration of God’s creation through nature study, wilderness skills, and conservation.

  • Leadership Development: Builds skills for organizing and leading outdoor expeditions, supporting youth ministry.

 

MGO connects participants with God, community, and nature through meaningful outdoor experiences.

Mount Sneffels Colorado

Mount Sneffels is a 14,153-foot mountain in Colorado's Sneffels Range, located within the Uncompahgre National Forest near Ouray and Telluride. Known for its steep, rocky, and scenic terrain, this "fourteener" offers challenging class 3 hikes via the Yankee Boy Basin or Blue Lakes.

Key Details and Highlights
  • Location: Located in the Mount Sneffels Wilderness, southwest Colorado, with access from Telluride (Blue Lakes).

  • Elevation: 14,153 feet, making it the highest peak in the Sneffels Range.

  • Difficulty: Considered a challenging hike, not for beginners. It involves steep, loose scree, class 3 scrambling, and significant exposure near the summit.

  • Route:​ Blue Lakes Trail: A longer, scenic route starting from the Blue Lakes Trailhead.

  • Safety & Gear: Helmets are highly recommended due to the danger of falling rocks, especially in the upper gullies.

  • Scenery: Famous for dramatic, rocky, and stunning wildflower displays in the basin.

  • Summit Views: Offers 360-degree views of the surrounding San Juan mountains and lakes.

  • History: Named after the volcano in Jules Verne’s A Journey to the Center of the Earth.
